John Fields, Ph.D., Interim Dean, School of Arts & Sciences and Associate Professor of Philosophy, received his B.A. (Philosophy) from the University of Kentucky and his M.A. and Ph.D. (in Philosophy) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
His areas of specialization are epistemology and the philosophy of religion. His current research focus is on the epistemology of testimony and the nature of social trust.
John is the 2010 recipient of the James R. Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award. He is also the College’s official representative to, and since 2010 the Executive Director of, the Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies.
